Coast Guard Base Elizabeth City

Elizabeth City, NC

Base Elizabeth City is home to the Coast Guard's Aviation Logistics Center, which performs depot-level maintenance on the service's fixed-wing and rotary aircraft fleet, plus an air station flying HC-130 and helicopter search-and-rescue missions.

Fort Bragg

Fort Bragg is one of the largest U.S. Army installations by population, home to XVIII Airborne Corps, the 82nd Airborne Division, U.S. Army Special Operations Command, and 1st Special Forces Command. It anchors the Army's global airborne and special operations response capability alongside Pope Army Airfield. The post was renamed Fort Liberty in 2023 under the Naming Commission review and redesignated back to Fort Bragg in 2025.

U.S. Marine Corps

Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point

Havelock, NC

Cherry Point is home to 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing and Fleet Readiness Center East, the Marine Corps' large fixed-wing depot-level maintenance hub for jets and rotary aircraft. It's one of the busiest air stations on the East Coast, supporting Harrier and F-35 squadrons along with the depot maintenance mission.

U.S. Marine Corps

Marine Corps Air Station New River

Jacksonville, NC

MCAS New River is the Marine Corps' primary East Coast rotary-wing and tiltrotor air station, home to 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing squadrons flying the MV-22 Osprey, CH-53, and AH-1/UH-1 helicopters. It operates as a satellite installation tied closely to Camp Lejeune, a few miles to the south, supporting II MEF's aviation combat element.

Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune

Jacksonville, NC

Camp Lejeune is home to II Marine Expeditionary Force and 2nd Marine Division, the East Coast's primary Fleet Marine Force ground combat power. The base sits on roughly 14 miles of New River Inlet coastline, giving it direct beach access for amphibious training. It's one of the largest Marine installations in the country and the anchor of the greater Jacksonville, NC military community.

Seymour Johnson Air Force Base

Seymour Johnson AFB is home to the 4th Fighter Wing, flying the F-15E Strike Eagle, and the 916th Air Refueling Wing (Air Force Reserve). It's a strike-fighter and tanker installation in eastern North Carolina.
