Fort Benning

formerly Fort Moore

Columbus, GA

Fort Benning is home to the Maneuver Center of Excellence and trains the majority of the Army's infantry and armor officers and enlisted Soldiers, along with Airborne School and Ranger School. It was renamed Fort Moore in 2023 and redesignated back to Fort Benning in 2025.

Fort Gordon

formerly Fort Eisenhower

Augusta, GA

Fort Gordon is home to the Cyber Center of Excellence and U.S. Army Cyber Command, and co-locates with the NSA's Georgia facility. It was renamed Fort Eisenhower in 2023 and redesignated back to Fort Gordon in 2025.

Fort Stewart

Hinesville, GA

Fort Stewart is the Army's largest installation east of the Mississippi River by land area and is home to the 3rd Infantry Division. It sits adjacent to Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, which shares the same garrison command.

Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany

Albany, GA

MCLB Albany is a logistics and maintenance installation — it rebuilds and stores ground combat and combat-support equipment for the entire Marine Corps, and hosts Marine Corps Logistics Command. It's a much smaller, more administrative post than the operational bases on either coast.

Moody Air Force Base

Valdosta, GA

Moody AFB is home to the 23rd Wing, which combines A-10C Thunderbolt II attack aircraft with HH-60 combat rescue helicopters and pararescue forces. It's a close-air-support and combat-rescue focused installation in south Georgia.

Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay

Kings Bay, GA

Kings Bay is the East Coast homeport for the Navy's ballistic-missile and guided-missile submarine force (SSBN/SSGN), supporting the strategic deterrent mission with dedicated refit and weapons-handling facilities.

Robins Air Force Base

Warner Robins, GA

Robins AFB is headquarters for the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center and hosts the Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex, a major depot for C-130, F-15, and other airframe maintenance, along with the 461st Air Control Wing (E-8 JSTARS). It's a large acquisition and sustainment hub in central Georgia.
